Functional movement session at Essentia

Functional Well-being.

Muscle mass and movement quality are two of the strongest predictors of longevity. Our coaches build programmes around the specific physical capacities that matter most for a long, capable life — strength, mobility, cardiovascular efficiency, and balance.

What it does.

Training for longevity is different from training for aesthetics. These are the outcomes that matter.

Preserves and builds muscle mass

Sarcopenia — the age-related loss of muscle — begins in the 30s and accelerates with each decade. Resistance training is the most effective intervention we have to slow and reverse it.

Improves metabolic health

Skeletal muscle is the largest glucose sink in the body. More muscle mass means better insulin sensitivity, lower HbA1c, and a reduced risk of metabolic disease.

Maintains joint health and mobility

Strength training through full ranges of motion loads cartilage, stimulates synovial fluid production, and maintains the joint integrity needed to stay active across decades.

Reduces all-cause mortality

VO2 max and grip strength are among the most predictive markers of longevity. Our programmes systematically improve both through targeted aerobic and resistance work.

What a session looks like.

Training here is structured, progressive, and built around your specific goals and baseline.

I

Duration

50 minutes. A brief warm-up, a focused strength or conditioning block, and a mobility cool-down. Sessions are dense — no filler, no wasted time.

II

Format

Your first session is a movement and capacity assessment. From that baseline, your coach builds a progressive 12-week plan. Sessions are 1:1 or in small groups of three.

III

Frequency

Two to three strength sessions per week is the minimum effective dose for meaningful adaptation. We coordinate scheduling with your other Essentia protocols for optimal recovery.

Train for the long game.
